Citizens Advice Central Dorset

Are you a private tenant and want to have your voice heard?

Citizens Advice is campaigning for a better deal for people who rent their home from a private landlord. Although most landlords are fair and reasonable in their dealing with tenants some are not. For example under a regulation called Section 21 “no fault” evictions tenants can be evicted because they have asked for a repair or complained about poor maintenance. We want to make sure that landlords are obliged to keep to their side of the deal when it comes to ensuring that their properties are properly maintained and repaired when necessary.

We are looking for private renters across England who would be willing to join a survey panel so that we can gather evidence from them of what it is like to be a private tenant. We will then use their stories as evidence to drive any changes that are needed.

If you are interested we will be running surveys every 3 months for the next 18 months. They can be done on-line or over the telephone. Anything you say will be kept completely confidential and you can stop taking part at any point. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a tenant for 30 days or 30 years, we would still like to hear from you.

If you take part you will be helping to strengthen the voices of private renters in discussions about housing policy, which will hopefully create change in the sector and help to improve rights for tenants. You will receive a £10 voucher for every survey you complete.
