DORSET Council has agreed to allow a chalet bungalow at East Hill, Charminster despite the objection of the parish council and the immediate neighbour.

Both warned the home will be overlooked by the new bungalow with a loss of privacy.

But planning officers decided there was no grounds to refuse planning permission for the chalet bungalow on a plot of land east of 26 East Hill.

The new building will be accessed via the private drive which serves Wolfeton Manor care home.

In granting permission the council planning team concluded: “The proposed development is within the development limit of Charminster and would respect the character of the immediate area and the Charminster Conservation Area and would not adversely affect the amenities of the occupiers of neighbouring properties, highway safety or local flood risk.”

One of the conditions states that four rooflights and three windows closest to neighbouring homes will have to be glazed in obscured glass.
