A SPORTS Relief challenge is coming to Weymouth next week, and companies across the town are invited to take part.

ASM Assembly Systems has issued a challenge to local companies - come to Zone Fitness on the Granby Industrial Estate for a series of sporting events this week to fundraise for good causes.

This event - dubbed ‘The Granby Challenge’ - will see company representatives take on the challenges to compete for the Granby Cup.

A spokesman said: “Do you work at a company that wishes to be involved in this fun challenge all in aid of SportRelief? For a donation you can participate in daily challenges, representing your company with a chance of winning the Granby Cup.

“The best three daily participants will receive a point score of 3, 2 or 1 and the company with the highest score at the end of the week will take home the Granby Cup.”

Each day will see companies compete in a different sporting challenge. There will be spinathlon on Monday, plank off on Tuesday, rowing on Wednesday, running on Thursday and stairs on Friday.

The winner of the challenge will be encouraged to host their own fundraising event the following year and pass on the cup to the subsequent victor.

The spokesman added: “The Granby Challenge idea was set in motion by the ASM Sports & Social Club, which is a staff initiative that helps build employee engagement. The club raises funds all year round for local charities through a range of sporting and social events.

The aim is that the Cup Winner will commit to being the challenger for an annual fundraising event of their choice the following year, passing the cup on to the next winner. With the support of Zone Fitness in hosting the 2020 Granby Cup, employees at Weymouth companies can raise much needed money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries. To participate you don’t have to be a member of Zone Fitness. Contact MJ@zoneweymouth.com for more information on how to get involved or pop into Zone Fitness to get more details.”
