LET the Neil Maya Quartet take you back to 1959 and the cool sounds of one of the most famous jazz quartets, as this Devon-based band head back to Dorset for the last of their Brubeck Project concerts with Artsreach.

The performance in Charmouth follows three sell-out dates with the touring arts charity last month.

Acclaimed American pianist and composer Dave Brubeck is widely considered to have spearheaded the breakthrough of jazz into the popular mainstream and for many people, the sound of Dave Brubeck’s Take 5 is the sound of jazz.

Performing with a light, skilful touch and an air of frivolity, Neil Maya on saxophone is joined by some of the most exciting jazz musicians working in the South West today on piano, double bass and drums, together playing Dave Brubeck’s most challenging compositions such as Blue Rondo Ala Turk, Unsquare Dance and Take Five.

Expect to hear some of the Neil Maya Quartet’s original compositions and other jazz standards, alongside all the Brubeck favourites.
