Five weeks of roadworks started on Monday as part of improvements to the walking and cycling facilities in the town.

Works will be carried out on East Road roundabout as part of scheme by Dorset Council, Bridport Town Council, Sustrans and Highways England, which will include removing old signs and posts and erecting new ones, as well as replacing existing street lighting on the roundabout.

Footways will also be resurfaced, and new markings will be put down.

Motorists are warned that there could be delays around and leading up to the roundabout.

Work is expected to be completed on March 27.

The latest round of works follows more than 13-weeks of work last year in which pavements on Sea Road North and Burton Road were installed and widened to incorporate a shared cyclepath, crossings were also installed on Sea Road North, East Road and Burton Road and the widening of the old railway line from Burton Road to West Bay.
