A CRESCENT Street building could be converted into a boxing club and gym for Weymouth.

The building, currently a workshop and store, at No 19 on the corner with Stanley Street, has just under 100 square metres of useable space with parking for four cars.

The application to change the use of the building has been submitted in the names of Kelly Robinson and Laura Mosedale as KN Boxing & Fitness with an address in Wyke Regis.

Their application says that, if the change of use is agreed for the two storey building, the business would support two full-time jobs with the gym open throughout the week from 7am until 9pm.

The boxing area would be on the ground floor with a fitness studio above.

The proposal says: “The target audience will be a wide range of people including adults and children. We would like to create a boxing gym with a difference that offers a wide range of classes that does not involve contact but is more focused on the fitness training involved which can really improve physical fitness and mental well-being. We hope to create a warm and friendly gym that will be a great addition to the community offering something for everyone.”

The site has been the subject of previous applications for conversion to houses or flats, but these have not been approved.

Comments on the application can be made until March 8th with a decision expected to be delegated to a Dorset Council planning officer.
