RUNNERS and walkers will be making big strides to help boost end of life care across the region by taking part in a new Snowdonia event.

The St David’s Hospice Snowdonia Trail Series has three separate routes passing through some of the most stunning locations in North Wales.

The activities ,suitable for runners and walkers, aim to raise funds for the St Davids charity which provides hospice care for people and their families living with advanced illness in Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy.

Registration is now open for the first event at Abergyngregyn - the Aber Falls 7k - on Saturday, March 14. The route goes past the Aber Falls, then follows the North Wales coastal path.

The Betws Y Coed 7k is on May 16 and the series ends with an evening event with the Llyn Padarn 10k, at Llanberis, on July 3.

The trail series is part of celebrations marking the 'Year of the Outdoors' and aim to encourage people to discover North Wales through outdoor activity.

St David’s Hospice events coordinator Rhian Jacobs said: "“We are so excited to have announced the Snowdonia Trail Series.

"We are really looking forward to have walkers and runners of all abilities, come together for this challenge. Let’s embrace the beautiful scenery of Snowdonia that we have on our doorstep, feel great and raise the funds for the Hospice!

“We would like to thank the Abergwyngregyn Regeneration Company for their support and sponsorship towards the Aber Fall 7k. It promises to be a fantastic day in the fresh.”

Participants must be over the age of 16 and there is an option to take part in individual events or the complete trail series.

Registration for walkers is £16 per event, which includes a medal, or £22 runners, which includes chip timing and a medal.

Alternatively you can take part in all three events for a reduced entry fee: £39 (walkers) £59(runners) which also includes a bespoke T-shirt.
