Find out more about the floating convict ship at the next winter talk at Beaminster Museum.
Diana Trenchard will present, ‘A Floating Convict Ship Museum visits Dorset’ at the museum on Whicombe Road at 2.30pm on Tuesday, February 18.
This old sailing ship had made several voyages to Australia before being turned into a floating museum, demonstrating the horros of the earlier life of such ships transporting prisoners to Australia.
For more than 50 years it was on show to millions of visitors in Australia, Great Britain and America.
As a result of emigration, Beaminster Museum now has a number of contacts with Australians whose forefathers came from Beaminster.
The talk costs £3 and everyone is welcome.
