This is a plea not to let live music venues disappear.
I have been inspired to write this letter as I have been listening to BBC 6 Music, who are promoting independent live venue week to highlight how important these places are and how vital they are for music lovers and bands. Sadly these special places are disappearing.
I have fond memories from not that long ago of going to gigs on a regular basis and seeing some amazing bands including The Beat, Hawkwind, The Damned, Johnny Marr and Boy George.
My friends were quite jealous that I lived so close to such a great venue, most gigs were full to bursting and there was a lot of money going through the bars.
I now travel to Exeter and Bristol to see bands and it is a real shame I cannot see them locally.
