A popular beer festival is being reborn in Lyme Regis.

For several years there was a festival at the Marine Theatre, and now the community event is returning thanks to a new partnership between the venue and Lyme Regis Brewery.

Event organisers made the announcement with a promise of a hearty celebration of over 20 beers and 20 live acts across the Easter weekend.

Lyme Regis Brewery is gathering craft beers and ale from around the region, with a focus on showcasing local drinks now on offer in Dorset, Devon and Somerset.

There will be both superb cask ales and kegged beers covering all tastes and styles.

The brewery is planning to gradually release the beer line up on the approach to the event.

As well as beer, the festival is celebrating local musical talent, with a few special headliners from further afield.

Irish music, cumbia, reggae, gypsy, covers, sea shanties, morris dancing, and even the town brass band covers a wide variety of tastes.

The headliners are Town of Cats, Fromage En Feu, La Juega and Palooka 5, with local performers Raisin’ Cain, Lyme Morris and B Sharp amongst the acts from Lyme Regis on the bill.

Outside, local street food outfits will be serving food on Theatre Square.

Marine Director Gabby Rabbitts said: “We’re chuffed to be having a beer festival here again, and to be joining forces with the town’s brewery.

"There’s something rather special about drinking beer, especially when overlooking the sea.

"This event is about music too, as we celebrate the talent in our region with a big line-up of musicians."
