The devastation caused to Rousdon Village Bakery by a fuse box fire has been revealed.

Photos of the inside of the bakery have been posted on social media, with the owner stating the bakery will be ‘closed for a while’.

A fire broke out on Tuesday morning in a garage workshop, spreading to the bakery and flats, causing significant damage to the three-storey building.

The A3052 between Lyme Regis and Colyford was closed for most of the day as fire crews battled the blaze.

Fire engines from Bridport, Lyme Regis, Colyton, Axminster attended with other crews across the area.

The fire was extinguished using eight breathing apparatus, four hose reel jets, two main jets, triple extension ladder and tools. The cause of the fire has been found to be accidental.

Clive Cobb of Rousdon Village Bakery would like to thank the fire service’s professionalism and speed and to everyone who had sent them good wishes.
