Police and coastguards were alerted to West Bay in the early hours to search for a woman described as a 'high risk' missing person.

The NPAS helicopter was also involved in the search, which was launched after the alarm was raised around 4am.

Dorset Police said the missing woman was found safe in the West Bay area around 40 minutes later.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team said: "An early start to the day when officers from West Bay and Lyme Regis were alerted by Solent Coastguard National Maritime Operations Centre to support police with an ongoing incident in the West Bay area.

"With a positive outcome, the incident was concluded and all teams were stood down to return to station."

The Coastguard urge people to call them on 999 if they see something which gives them cause for concern.
