IF YOU are interested in conservation, particularly that of hedgehogs, the Dorset Mammal Group is holding the perfect event on April 4.

The Dorset Hedgehog Conference will share the DMG's successful approach to hedgehog conservation in Dorset, which involves co-ordinated community action, skilled hedgehog rescuers and veterinary practices.

This conference will share the above strategies in the national scientific context of steep hedgehog decline.

There will be a variety of knowledgeable speakers at this event, including Dr Nigel Reeve, a leading ecologist who has studied hedgehogs for over 40 years.

Hugh Warwick, a well-known hedgehog champion, will also be in attendance, along with Colin Varndell, a professional wildlife photographer and Susy Varndell, DMG’s hedgehog lead.

There will also be speakers from local communities, the rescue network and Dorset Council’s Natural Environment Team.

The conference fee includes tea and coffee on arrival and at refreshment breaks throughout the day.

Taking place at The Dorford Centre in Dorchester, this conference will run from 9am till 4:30pm.

Tickets are £25.
