AN INDEPENDENT record label in Weymouth has released a mini series of singles by young artists in the area.

The tracks, which cover songs by chart-topping artists, were released by Jurassic Coast Records.

The three teenagers, Lizzie Pawsy, 15, from Weymouth, Asha Menon, 13, from Blandford, and Max Nielsen Howes from Weymouth, recorded the tracks at the label’s two studios. The singles have since been played on Wessex FM and Air107.2.

Both Lizzie, who sang Legends Never Die by Against The Current/League of League, and Max, who performed Say You Won’t Let Go by James Arthur, have also featured as live guests on the radio.

Frazer Mitchell, producer at Jurassic Coast Records, said: “It’s great to be able to support upcoming talented individuals who don’t usually have access to things like studio space and radio play. This year, we aim to work with more of the community, especially Air107.2, and give these undiscovered talented acts more opportunities, and build a bigger network of musical people in the local area.”

The record label selected the three individuals after seeing them perform at open mic nights run by David Days, held at the Three Chimneys in Weymouth.

Frazer added: “They were all putting a lot of effort into their own music projects and wanted to gain more studio experience, so releasing a mini series seemed the sensible thing to do!” The label is continuing to offer Lizzie, Asha and Max support and gig opportunities.

Jurassic Coast Records is a new independent record label run by music producers Paul Harmer and Frazer Mitchell, aiming to give young artists the opportunity to get involved and follow their passions in music and creative arts.

In October 2019, the label released a single by Charlene Clease which reached number one on the Amazon singles chart. The producers are currently working with many individuals from Weymouth and other parts of Dorset, including Gillingham and Bournemouth.

Every Tuesday at 8pm, Jurassic Coast Records also hosts a radio show on Air107.2 called The Lounge, which invites local acts to perform live. They are planning to present another mini series this Easter, showcasing the talents of three new artists.
