Jurassic Fields promises to be 'bigger and better than ever before' as it seeks to start bringing bigger names to the festival.

Organisers say they are pleased to announce main stage headliners will be platinum-selling English indie rock act The Pigeon Detectives on Friday, July 10, and multi-platinum English pop rock band The Hoosiers on Saturday, July 11.

The Pigeon Detectives are five pals from Leeds who play scruffy but energetic rock & roll with no shortage of swagger. They formed in 2002 but the group's members were mates from school and had known one another since they were 12.

The Pigeon Detectives started earning press attention for their gigs and were invited to tour with The Kaiser Chiefs. They have had five Top 40 Singles which all reached number one in the indie charts, including 'I Found Out', 'Take Her Back' and 'I’m Not Sorry' to name a few

The Hoosiers began attracting an audience with their tuneful, vintage-minded indie pop.

Original members Irwin Sparkes and Alfonso Sharland added Martin Skarendahl on bass and later signed a deal with RCA Records. The Hoosiers' first two singles, 'Worried About Ray' and 'Goodbye Mr. A,' peaked at number five and number four respectively on the UK charts and their debut album The Trick to Life topped the charts upon its release in October 2007. The album eventually went double-platinum in the UK.

With budgets limited a lot of hard negotiating has gone into bringing such household names to west Dorset.

Festival organiser Dan Broom said: "Jamie and myself sat down straight after last year's festival and decided that this year we wanted to go in a slightly different direction and start bringing those bigger names to the festival as we grow - but also not digressing from the rich quality of talented musicians that we have always brought to play throughout the event.

"We have brought in an experienced and larger programming team in order to make the festival bigger and better than ever before."
