It is with dismay that I learn of the possible closure of the Lyme Regis TIC.

Apart from the fact that tourism is the mainstay of the economy of our area, and that we use it to buy tickets for events, find local information, and help our visitors explore the locality, there is one more important function from which we have benefitted.

In 1985 I came to Lyme Regis to research a feature film for ITV.

The first port of call was Lyme TIC, who were most helpful and gave use a range of good filming locations and contacts. A kind lady called Pat drove us to the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, which had only just been set up. Little did I know that sitting behind the desk at the heritage centre was my future husband, Terry Sweeney.

It was the TIC who put the two of us together, and we have been together ever since.

We have been grateful to the TIC throughout our - now long - married lives.

Please make sure the TIC stays open.
