Harbour House is always on the lookout for ideas to keep their residents stimulated. One such plan that is gathering support is 'conversation starters'. A whole range of ideas for topics with which to begin conversations has been offered, including my first pet, holidays, where I went on my first date and with whom, are among the suggestions. Plymouth Coastal Observatory have erected two special cradles for holding mobile phones to take photographs of the coast. One is on East Beach and the other on West Beach. Full instructions on how to use this facility are located nearby. Happy hunting for all budding photographers.

On the subject of photographers, did anyone hear the live interview with local photographer Neil Barnes on Wessex FM last week? Neil was interviewed as part of his ongoing campaign for better disabled facilities to enable wheelchair users to obtain better access to the local amenities.

The West Bay Discovery Centre is looking for a new manager. The job is seasonal for the period from March until October this year. This is a fantastic opportunity for a person who loves meeting people and who has good organisational skills. Next Thursday, January 23, between 10.30am and 12noon the centre will hold a coffee morning for anyone who wants to drop by for a chat and to find out what is happening in the building this year.

Is it too early to plan for 2021? Certainly the Coastal Communities Alliance don't think so. They are striving to make it the year of the English Coast, promoting different types of activities that take place around the coast of our island.
