A HUGE thank you to all the willing volunteers who turned out on Sunday morning to take part in another successful beach clean.

Last week’s meeting of the West Bay Community Forum heard that the failure to install a boardwalk to enable people with disability to gain access to East Beach had resulted in £30,000 remaining unspent from the total costs of the overall project. Members were anxious that this money should be spent in West Bay and a number of different proposals were put forward. More news in due course.

On Saturday, at 7pm, you are invited to join the congregation at St. John’s to kick-start the festive season with a candlelit evening of folk carols, poems and a hearty sing. You are invited to take a cup with you to be filled with mulled cider or apple juice.

The refurbishment of Harbour News is complete and the owners, Richard and Margaret Attrill, are very pleased with the efforts of all the local tradespeople who helped with the project. They have owned the shop for the past 11 years. When they first took over the business, Dyllis Scadding, a long time West Bay resident, was on the payroll.

Sadly, Dyllis has died aged 72 and her funeral will be held at St. John’s Church, this afternoon, Thursday, at 2pm.

The Windy Corner Café will close at 2pm tomorrow (Friday) for a private function. They will open as usual on Saturday for breakfast.

Finally, some really good news. Lauren Marley, wife of Tom from the Angling Centre, has given birth to a beautiful daughter, Eleanor.

I am sure readers will want to join me in congratulating them.
