Visiting yacht numbers are up for Weymouth and Bridport harbours – but down for Lyme Regis.

The latest figures, from April to the end of October, show an 11 per cent rise in visitor nights at Weymouth to 5,324, an increase of 9.8 per cent on the three-year average.

At the end of October 254 of the 411 Inner harbour marina berths were occupied and 83 of the 107 commercial berths.

Bridport Harbour has also shown an increase in visitor nights – with 183 boats recorded in 2019 to date, compared to 138 throughout 2018. Private mooring are down from 141 to 139 with an increase of three commercial moorings from 22 to 25.

At Lyme Regis visiting boat nights are down from 340 in 2018 to 223 in 2019 to date. Season tickets have also declined, from 63 to 39, with an increase in the waiting list from 20 to 31. The harbour currently has 177 private moorings in use, compared to 208 in 2018 and 37 commercial moorings, up one on 2018.
