Uplyme Morris has changed its name to Lyme Morris to better represent the wider area that the group represents.

For more than 10 years, Uplyme Morris has entertained locals and holidaymakers alike with its fun and energetic style of traditional morris dancing.

Its success has meant that the group is regularly asked to perform across the Lyme Regis region, as well as further afield, so members have agreed to change the group’s name to Lyme Morris.

The side will maintain its white and green livery and iconic top hats, and will continue to focus on dancing in and around Lyme Regis, supporting local charities with donations each year.

If you would like to help maintain this traditional form of dance, Lyme Morris are looking to recruit new musicians and dancers for the forthcoming dance season.

The group will be running taster sessions on December 5 and 12 from 7pm at its practice venue at Charmouth Scout Hut, Barrs Lane playing field. In particular the side is currently looking for a melodion player to support the musicians.

Lyme Morris' next events include performances at the Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday, November 30 at 5pm and the Harbour Inn on New Years Day 2020 at 12noon.
