Residents will be able to ask west Dorset’s parliamentary candidates about global warming and the environment at a special hustings event tonight.
Joe Burlington, chairman of Transition Town Bridport (TTB) which has organised the hustings in conjunction with Churches Together in Bridport, said: “Recent rains, floods and fires are a sign of worse to come, we’re told.”
Members of TTB have been working to make the town more self-reliant.
Joe added: “We need to grow more of our food, plant trees and leave fossil fuels in the ground.
“Food, family and fun matter more than flying, motoring and consuming.”
Chris Loder of the Conservative Party, Kelvin Clayton of the Green Party and Edward Morello for the Liberal Democrats have confirmed they will be attending. Labour candidate Claudia Sorin has been invited.
The event will take place at Bridport United Church tonight at 6.30pm for a prompt start at 7pm.
