A west Dorset village will be getting a defibrillator.

Bradpole Parish Council received £1,200 from the Bradpole Fete Committee from money raised at this year’s event to go towards the purchase and installation of a defibrillator.

Councillors have also provided an additional £1,200 from council reserves to go towards this worthy project.

It is planned to install the defibrillator in the redundant red telephone box by Bradpole Village Stores and Post Office, once legalities have been completed.

A spokesman for Bradpole Paris Council said: “Bradpole Parish Council is grateful for the efforts of the Bradpole Fete Committee, volunteers and villagers in putting on an excellent community event this year raising funds for the benefit of the village.

“Bradpole village represents the hub of Bradpole Civil Parish.

“Many residents live within the proximity of the village, ensuring that the defibrillator will provide an important community facility.

“Bradpole Parish Council will continue to look at the possibility of installing additional facilities at the other settlements within the civil parish.”

The fete committee would like to thank the fete’s main sponsors - Kitson and Trotman, AJ Wakely, Nantes solicitors and Bradpole Preschool - as well as many more other local businesses that made a donation towards the fete and all those who attended on the day.
