BRIDPORT Police are appealing to the public to watch out for a couple who officers want to talk to in connection with the theft of an elderly woman's purse.

The incident occurred in Weymouth but police say they have been spotted in Bridport recently.

The victim of the theft, a woman aged in her 70s, was shopping at the Lidl store in Dorchester Road, Weymouth at around 11am on Thursday, October 17, when her purse was taken from her bag.

Following enquiries, officers believe the incident may be linked to similar offences where elderly women have had their purses stolen at various locations around Dorset over the past few months.

A spokesman for Bridport Police said: "This group have also been active in the Bridport area recently, wearing the same clothing.

"If you recognise them, or see them about please let us know, we'd love to speak to them."
