The third charity auction in aid of cancer support groups is taking place this weekend.

The event at The Ropemakers pub will take place on Sunday, November 17 and will raise money for The Living Tree cancer support group and Stepping Out, an exercise programme for people living with or recovering from cancer.

There are more than 60 lots available, including a large collection of commemorative 50th anniversary Second World War stamp covers, Royal Grafton ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ fine bone china bells, a £25 Clocktower voucher and a Greig and Allen voucher for an MOT.

Up for grabs is also a limited edition print of Colmers Hill by local artist Chris Neaves, an antique Venetian bead necklace on a silver chain and a building set of Bayko, pre Lego, dated between 1934 and 1967.

There is also a Chinese/hippy style waistcoat worn to the first Isle of Wight festival nearly 50 years ago, as well as at this year’s Bridport Carnival.

Lots have been donated by numerous local businesses and individuals, including the Tiger Inn, Bridport Antiques, The Alleyways, Greig and Allen and Clocktower Music.

Organiser Roz Copson said: “It’s our third charity auction in aid of The Living Tree and Stepping Out and we are trying to raise as much money as possible for good causes as cancer is affecting a high ratio of people.

“Enormous thanks to John and Geraldine at The Ropemakers, thanks to Maria, Karen and Nigel, members of The Living Tree and Stepping Out, for so much help and particular thanks to Richard of Bridport Antiques and Simon of Lyme Bay Auctions for giving their time to be our auctioneers and involving their colleagues in donating items.

“Many thanks to all the donors, participants, members, friends, colleagues and staff at The Ropemakers.”

Lots can be viewed from 5pm, with the auction starting at 6pm.
