A 24-YEAR-OLD man who drowned after being swept out to sea on the west Dorset coast has been named as Ross Parker.

Mr Parker and his mother were both dragged into the sea by a wave while walking on Freshwater Beach at Burton Bradstock on Sunday November 3, a Bournemouth inquest heard.

His mother was able to get out of the water but Mr Parker was pulled out to sea.

A search and rescue operation was launched involving local coastguards, the police, the NPAS helicopter and a lifeboat. Paramedics also attended.

Sadly, Mr Parker’s body was found the following day and he was pronounced dead on the beach at 6.55am.

Mr Parker was a barman who lived in High Street, Burton Bradstock.

A post mortem examination revealed he drowned, Assistant Dorset Coroner Grant Davies was told.

Coroner’s officer Susan Kay told the inquest that there are no suspicious circumstances.

The inquest was adjourned to allow for further inquiries to be carried out.
