A grand Christmas raffle is being organised by Bridport Leisure Centre, with all proceeds going towards Bridport Connect.

Local businesses and residents have donated more than 50 prizes so far, including a vineyard tour with tasting, a luxury Christmas hamper, a sports massage and hairdresser vouchers, as well as chocolates, wines and cakes. The top prize will be an annual gym extra membership worth £400, provided by the leisure centre.

Bridport Connect is a community day service which offers a wide range of opportunities to people with varying support needs, aiming to promote independence and improve quality of life. Activities on offer range from cooking and gardening to board games and musical workshops.

The organisation supports a broad variety of clients, including older people, adults with learning and physical disabilities, and those who have needs relating to their mental health.

Susan Cosma, an officer at Bridport Connect, said: “We are overwhelmed with the response from the business and people of Bridport, who have so kindly given prizes for the raffle. The funds will go towards ukulele lessons, outings, arts and craft materials and entertainment costs. The centre is extremely grateful for all of the support shown.”

Raffle tickets cost £1 and will be available from Bridport Leisure Centre, the West Dorset Mencap charity shop in East Street, and the Tourist Information Centre from November 11. The raffle will be drawn on December 16.
