A fun day to raise funds for charity and celebrate a little girl’s smile is taking place later this month.

Maddie’s Fun Day is being held to raise money and awareness for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA), as well as celebrate seven-year-old Maddie Newport from Beaminster, who was born with a cleft lip and palate.

Everyone is invited to come join in at Beaminster Pavilion on Sunday, October 27 from 12 noon to 3pm and enjoy games for all the family, a tombola, face painting, cakes, arts and crafts and lots more.

Maddie’s mum Amelia Newport, who is organising the event, said: “My beautiful little Maddie was born with a cleft lip and palate. She has had six operations so far and has had a pretty tough time. The next one is due this side of Christmas and will be meeting with surgeons at the end of November, or beginning of December, to see if she is growing ok to have the next operation.

“On Sunday, October 27, we are organising a fun day at Beaminster Pavilion to raise awareness and money for the CLAPA charity, and to celebrate her beautiful smile.

“It was Maddie’s idea to raise some money for the charity as they do amazing work for children that are in the same situation as Maddie.

“It would be a great day for the kids and hopefully we can raise some money for a great charity.”

The day will also be raising money for Matthew Webb and his family. Matthew was diagnosed with a rare, incurable stage four cancer in August.
