Parish councillors have supported plans for two shepherd huts holiday homes on a site north east of Stubbs Bridge at Monkton Wyld.
Wootton Fitzpaine Parish Council agreed to support the application after visiting the site – subject to several recommendations.
These include having no dogs because of the risk to local livestock and that visitors should be encouraged to approach the site from the A3165, Crewkerne to Axminster road, and not from the Wootton direction.
The parish council would also like the site to have a small integrated sewage system on the site and ensure that each hut be provided with a recycling box.
One letter in support of the application has been sent to Dorset Council by Mr Arthur Lee who said: “I have no objection to these characteristic shepherds huts being used as holiday lets . There is already camping at Briggs and holiday cottages at Champernhayes, the shepherds huts are in keeping with the countryside and offer a different accommodation opportunity for visitors to enjoy in the area.”
A decision on the Monkton Wyld Lane site will be made by a planning officer under delegated powers. Public comments closed on October 8th.
