DORCHESTER Town manager Callum Brooks believes the Magpies are travelling to “one of the top sides in the division” in Weston-super-Mare tomorrow (3pm).

Brooks’ men take on the Seagulls in the BetVictor Southern Premier South looking to close the five-point gap between the sides with 10 places separating the Somerset club from the Magpies.

Weston were last season relegated from the National League South and Brooks is subsequently cautious of the Seagulls’ pedigree despite a slower than expected start.

He said: “They’re one of a handful of sides who would be disappointed with the way they’ve started. We’re one of those sides and there’s a few others around. It is only a start and they’re a football club that’s been built on very good foundations.

“They retained National League South status for many years playing a good brand of football. So, we’re heading to one of the top sides in the division, without a doubt.”

Dorchester’s performances against the league’s high-flying teams have often not matched results – the latest being the Magpies’ 2-1 loss at table-toppers Tiverton last weekend.

“We’ve got nothing to fear at all,” Brooks stressed. “We were unfortunate last week not to get a result against (one of) the in-form teams in the league and we need to take belief from that.

“We need to do our jobs and start putting points on the board – the sooner, the better.

“The focus this week has been on getting us into shape to give a really good account of ourselves so we can get one of these results over the line and start heading in the right direction.

“It’s 10 games in and all to play for. We need to step up now and start delivering.

“We’ve had a bedding-in process, we’ve seen some good signs, but we need to marry it up, we need to start getting points on the board.”

Tom Purrington (ankle) makes his return from injury, with Kyle Egan (knee) Dorchester’s sole absentee.
