A WEST Dorset village, and the surrounding area, has seen its neighbourhood plan approved by Dorset Council.

It should give Broadwindsor a greater say over where it would like development to take place in the future.

Residents of Broadwindsor, Burstock and Seaborough took part in a referendum, with 75 per cent in favour.

Planning brief holder Cllr David Walsh congratulated the local group on the many hours it had put in to get the plans completed and approved, saying: “A lot of hard work and determination has gone into the neighbourhood plans by residents.”

Council leader Cllr Spencer Flower added: “The amount of work which goes into these plans is quite remarkable. I am sure they will be of great benefit to their communities.”

The plan was prepared by the local community and sets out visions and objectives for how the parishes will develop.

It will be used to guide future development in the parishes and determine planning applications.
