BRENDON King expects “one of the biggest tests” for his Portland United side when the Blues travel to Exmouth Town in the FA Vase first round tomorrow (3pm).

King’s men are in stunning goalscoring form, having netted 17 times in two games, but the Blues’ boss exercised caution ahead of meeting red-hot Exmouth.

Town possess a 100 per cent record at home this season and have taken five wins from six games in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, including a resounding 4-1 win over Portland’s Dorset rivals Bridport.

Speaking to Echosport, King said: “We’ve had a couple of reports done on them and it’s going to be really tough.

“In our last two games we’ve scored 17 goals but it isn’t going to be like that.

“They’re going to be one of the top sides in the Western League this year.

“So, it’s going to be one of the biggest tests.

“They’re the same level as us, so it’s going to be a massive game for us.”

Portland will be able to draw on the experience of the returning Jamie Beasley after a minor hip problem, while Ed Bastick is also set to return after being rested for

Portland’s 5-2 win over Bournemouth Poppies.

Striker Bailey Rowe remains on international duty with the British Virgin Islands, while centre-half Sam Buckler has not yet recovered from a groin injury.
