DORCHESTER Sports’ boss Ashley James is seeking an instant reaction to his side’s 3-2 Dorset Senior Trophy loss at the hands of rivals Balti Sports tomorrow (2.30pm).

James’ men host Sturminster Newton United in the second round of the Dorset Premier League Cup at the Clayson Stadium looking to make progress in cup competition this season.

Sports made the preliminary round of the FA Vase before gallantly losing 4-2 to Christchurch – ranked two leagues above.

While Sports have exited two of the three cup competitions available to them, James is keen to make an impression on the last remaining chance of knockout silverware.

He told Echosport: “We need a reaction, it’s the perfect chance at home to put it right.

“We’ll be hoping for a better performance and it’s another cup game – we’re desperately not wanting to go out of this one. You want to go deep in these.

“We enjoyed the FA Vase – that’s why (Balti) was such a shock because we played well in the Vase and played well the week before at Shaftesbury.

“Then, for some reason, we didn’t get going against Balti, which isn’t like us. We’ve got to put it right and we’re hoping we can get through to the next round.”

Dan Peart could return, while Adam Steele is in contention to feature.

Sports have no other injury concerns.
