A headteacher is 'excited to see what the future holds' after taking over the reins at a primary school.

Bridport Primary School has welcomed Michaela Kite - and she is no stranger to the town.

Michaela joined the school in September and is Bridport born and bred. She has taught and held leadership positions at a number of schools, but was most recently headteacher at Mrs Ethelston’s, Uplyme, for four-and-a-half years.

Michaela, who lives in the town and has two young sons, said: “I love Bridport. The town has something for everyone and it’s a great place to raise children, so I’m delighted to have joined Bridport Primary. Everyone has been so welcoming and I’m excited to see what the future holds for our school. We’ve got a good improvement plan and our staff are dedicated to helping every child achieve their potential, so they leave us as well-rounded, confident and kind individuals, who rise to a challenge and are resilient.”

Bridport Primary School is part of the Minerva Learning Trust – a group of schools working in partnership in the town, including Burton Bradstock, St Mary’s and Sir John Colfox School.

Michaela added: “It’s great to be working with other schools that are part of the trust. It’s good to be able to share ideas, resources and always know that we’re there to support each other.”

Bridport Primary is holding open days for parents wishing to look around the school if their child will be starting reception next September.

Tours are being held on Thursday, October 17 from 9.30am-11.30am and Thursday, October 24, between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
