AROUND 160 litres of cooking oil have been stolen from a fried chicken takeaway in Bournemouth.

The oil, worth £160, was scheduled to be picked up for recycling from the rear of Southern Fried Chicken in Charminster Road.

Some 200 litres of used oil were stored in a number of oil drums to the rear of the restaurant.

The theft was only discovered by staff when they reviewed CCTV after realising only around 40 litres had been collected.

Police have released CCTV of two men they want to speak to in connection with the incident, which happened at 9.20am on Tuesday, September 17.

Police Community Support Investigator Rich Frew, of Bournemouth police, said: “I have carried out a number of checks to identify the vehicle and suspects but these have so far not been successful.

“I am appealing to anyone who recognises these men or the vehicle to please contact Dorset Police.”
