Two mums have raised more than £5,000 for women’s cancer charities after successfully completing a cycle ride from London to Paris.

Bridport mum Abbi Irving-Bell and Lucinda Eames from Chard joined a group of 60 women taking part in the epic trip in aid of Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

They cycled more than 85 miles each day over the course of three days, starting at Hampton Court and finishing at the Eiffel

Tower.

The pair signed up for the challenge after completing a 100km cycle ride through London at night last year, which was inspired by a friend who had recovered from cervical cancer.

Abbi said: “Cycling to Paris was a very daunting challenge for us, we had to commit a lot of time to training and be fit enough to cope with all the hills, but it was all so worth it to raise so much money for such a worthy cause.”

The friends raised half of the money by holding a curry and quiz night, attended by more than 100 people.

The rest was raised by holding coffee mornings and through sponsorship.

Lucinda said: “We have had a huge amount of support from family and friends and we would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and came to our

curry evening and coffee mornings.”
