Free exercise classes for people living with dementia and their carers will start this week.
Dementia Friendly Bridport (DFB) will host the ‘Fit 4 Tea’ class at Bridport Leisure Centre, starting from October 9. It will take place every Wednesday from 3pm to 4.30pm.
Debra Bates, chairman of DFB, said: “When we have spoken to people with dementia and their carers, they have repeatedly reported that they want more activities in Bridport.
“We are thrilled that this new class is happening. We have been able to fund these classes thanks to the generosity of the people of Bridport and Bridport Leisure Centre.
“If successful, we hope the classes will continue after Christmas.”
The class will be run by experienced, qualified instructors, with the classes also wheelchair friendly.
There is no charge, but donations are gratefully received.
Booking for these classes is essential and can be done by calling 07890 649561 or emailing dementiafriendlybridport@gmail.com
