Businesses across west Dorset are calling on your support to vote for them in the prestigious Trencherman’s Awards.

The Club House in West Bexington, Brassica Restaurant and The Ollerod in Beaminster, the Acorn Inn in Evershot and The Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant in Lyme Regis and celebrity chef Mark Hix have all been shortlisted for the Trencherman’s Awards 2020.

The Club House is up for Best Trencherman’s Newcomer.

Steve Attrill, owner of the seafront restaurant, said: “The Club House team have worked exceptionally well to get The Club House into the different guides - Good Food, Michelin and Trencherman’s this year.

“At the Club the team are continually creating new dishes and some very exciting cocktails. If we should be lucky enough to win this award, it would be great recognition for their commitment.”

The Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant has been shortlisted for the Best Trencherman’s Hotel.

Catherine Haskins, director of The Alexandra, said: “We’re thrilled. It was a really great surprise that came out of the blue as it isn’t something we have put ourselves forward for.

“It would be a great boost for the team to win as they work so hard and it would be great recognition for them.”

The Acorn Inn in Evershot is up for the title of Best Trencherman’s Pub.

Natalie Legg, general manager at the Acorn Inn, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted as finalists in the prestigious 2020 Trencherman’s Awards.

“It means so much to the team to be recognised for their consistent hard work and dedication to the Acorn Inn.”

Brassica Restaurant is in the running for Best Trencherman’s Restaurant.

Louise Chidgey, who owns Brassica with Cass Titcombe, said: “Having just been awarded Best Local Restaurant do the South West by the Good Food Guide, we are extremely excited to also be shortlisted for the esteemed Trencherman’s Award.

“Both Cass and I feel very humbled to have been nominated and hope the exposure of such awards will bring more trade to us and Beaminster itself as the town has, and is going through, some trying times.”

The Ollerod is also up for Best Trencherman’s Newcomer and Best Trencherman’s Hotel, with Mark Hix nominated for the Award for Special Contribution.

The Trencherman’s Guide features only the best venues, guaranteed to give exceptional dining experiences, and the awards celebrate this.

The Trencherman’s Awards 2020 winners will be revealed on November 25 and can be voted for at trenchermans-guide.com
