Lyme Regis may have to wait for several months until it discovers whether or not it will have its own harbour master.

Since July, when Grahame Foreshaw left, the post has been carried out by the Bridport harbour master James Radcliffe, dividing his time between the two.

Two seasonal assistants were recruited for the season, one to replace Allan Nation, who also left in July, having held a permanent 20-hour a week position.

Simon Hanley and Mike May were employed for the summer to fulfil the seasonal roles - Simon mainly based at Lyme and Mike May working at both harbours.

The Dorset harbours committee heard at its meeting on Wednesday that the position for a new harbour master for Lyme Regis is currently being reviewed and should be decided ‘in the coming months.’
