Two wards are to become one at the hospital as building work starts.
The Ryeberry and Langdon wards at Bridport Community Hospital are being made into a newly refurbished ward, with a new workspace also being incorporated.
Ellen Holmes, matron at Bridport Community Hospital, said: “Here at Bridport Community Hospital we provide 24 in-patient beds and historically we have had two smaller wards providing this number of beds - Ryeberry and Langdon.
“We are currently undertaking building works to provide us with one newly refurbished larger ward within the Ryeberry footprint.
“We are very excited about the investment and look forward to our new ward opening later this year. The refurbished space will ensure we can continue to provide high quality care for our local community.
“The Langdon ward will become a workspace for our expanding integrated health and social care teams - including Weldmar Hospice community team, memory advice service, district nursing and social services - and will continue to build on the amazing work they are currently doing as a community hub.”
There will continue to be 24 beds at the hospital and there have been no job losses as a result of these changes.
Notices are displayed around the hospital regarding the building works to help inform visitors, with staff also available to assist visitors with any queries.
