Crews were called to a fire
FIREFIGHTERS were called out to reports of a fire on a farm yesterday.
Crews from Bridport, Beaminster and Dorchester were called at 4.15pm yesterday to what was reported to be a barn fire in the Shipton Gorge area.
However, once they arrived they found it was an open field fire that was under the control of the owner.
A spokesman said: "The owner, who was with and in control of the fire, was advised to call our control room just to pass details such as time scales for the burn. So we can minimise potentially unnecessary call outs, if you are intending on having a controlled burn, call our control room to advise or complete an online form."
