AN apprentice chef died at the scene of a motorcycle crash near Corfe Castle, an inquest has heard.

Joshua Juan Corrigan from Blandford Road, Hamworthy, was riding his Royal Enfield bike along the B3351, Studland to Corfe Castle Road, when the collision occurred.

During a short hearing at Dorset Coroner's Court on Friday, coroner's officer Susan Kay confirmed the crash – a collision between the motorcycle and a Peugeot motor caravan – took place on Saturday, September 21, and that the motorcycle had caught on fire after the crash.

Mrs Kay said: "The motorcycle had strayed into the opposite lane on a bend into the path of the oncoming motor caravan.

"Mr Corrigan sustained fatal injuries despite the best efforts of the public and medics at the scene."

Dorset Police continue to make enquires into the incident.

A post mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as multiple injuries.

Assistant Dorset Coroner Brendan Allen adjourned the inquest until May 7, 2020.
