Firefighters were called to help after a damaged boat started taking on water in West Bay harbour.

Bridport fire crews were called to the incident at 3.20pm on Friday.

Firefighters armed with a light portable pump and hoses were transported to the scene in the harbour master's boat. Water was then pumped out of the boat, which enabled it to float and be recovered.

A spokesman for Bridport fire station said: "We often have people enquiring about the cost on the service for carrying out certain roles. Incidents like these are classed as special service incidents and as such the service we provide maybe chargeable.

"This should not put anyone off calling for our assistance. We would never expect anyone to put themselves at risk and we will always attend."
