Groups, cafes, restaurants, pubs and fundraisers across west Dorset are gearing up for the world’s biggest coffee morning.

Macmillan Cancer Support’s fundraiser returns next and numerous venues, workplaces and homes in Bridport, Beaminster, Lyme Regis and the surrounding areas will be taking part.

The event, taking place on September 27 or a date to suit the organiser, raises millions of pounds for the charity every year and is a perfect opportunity to enjoy a selection of cakes, tea and coffee with friends.

Comrades Hall in Broadwindsor, Corscombe Village Hall and The Alexandra Hotel in Lyme Regis will host the event from 10am to 12noon on September 27, The Mariners in Lyme Regis will host the coffee morning from 11am to 1pm, the Bridport Arms in West Bay from 10am to 2pm, The Cove, also in West Bay, from 1pm to 8pm and Bridport Leisure Centre from 7am to 2pm.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest event and last year raised £26,914,382 for the charity.

The first coffee morning happened in 1990 with the simple idea of guests gathering over coffee and donate the cost of their drink to Macmillan in the process. Since then, it has raised more than £200million for the charity.
