Dorset Police's No Excuse Team has been targeting speeding drivers in Dorchester and Sherborne following complaints from members of the public.

Yesterday the force's dedicated road safety team carried out speed checks on Long Ash Lane, Sherborne Causeway, Cerne Abbas and Middlemarsh.

In total, eight tickets were issued for speeding and two tickets were issued for contravening a solid white line.

The team also visited a school crossing patrol in Charminster to support the school crossing patrol officer. No tickets were issued but words of advice were given to motorists.

Dorset Police’s ‘no excuse’ team are out in the county tackling bad and inconsiderate driving.

The team aims to use a combination of enforcement and education to tackle the ‘fatal five’: drink and drug driving, excessive and inappropriate speed, not wearing a seatbelt, driver distractions such as hand-held mobile phone and careless driving.

They operate 24-hours a day seven days a week and they could be anywhere at any time.
