A 58-year-old man from Dorchester has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a community safety officer.
Weymouth & Portland Police said they made the arrest after receiving reports of a 'drunk male causing issues' on Weymouth Esplanade at around 1.35pm today.
According to a statement, two Community Safety Accredited Scheme Officers (CSAS) witnessed a man's behaviour and 'interacted' with him.
During the conversation, one of the CSAS officers was allegedly assaulted by the man. He was then followed to Weymouth train station where he boarded a train.
A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting the CSAS officer and assaulting an emergency worker.
