Work has started on the A35 and it will lead to overnight closures.
The road will be closed every week night this week from 8pm to 6am in both directions between Bridport and the Monkeys Jump roundabout, Dorchester.
The work involves essential resurfacing work along East Road, Bridport, and other maintenance work, including gully cleaning, along the A35.
Signed diversions are in place, with traffic diverted southbound via the A37, A30 and A3066 and northbound in reverse.
The A35 will also be closed overnight for two nights from Monday, September 23, between Axminster and Bridport for resurfacing work near Morcomblake.
Other maintenance work will take place during the closure, between 8pm and 6am, and again clearly signed diversions are in place.
A spokesman for Highways England said: "The work is taking place overnight to minimise disruption and we apologise for any inconvenience during this essential work."
