Musical entertainment, a fete to keep summer alive or a good old singalong! Whatever your preference, here's our essential guide to the weekend.

FRIDAY

*HEAR the captivating melodies of folk duo Josie Duncan and Pablo Lafuente, who will be performing at Dorchester Corn Exchange this evening. From the Isle of Lewis and Spain respectively, both are accomplished musicians, with Josie having studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Pablo at the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music. The duo were also winners at the Radio 2 Young Folk Awards in 2017. Their concert will cover a range of genres from centuries-old ballads to songs from the mines, as well as including some original writing and vocals in Gaelic, Scots and English. *RELIVE the magic of American rock band Santana, 50 years after the band's electrifying performance at Woodstock catapulted them to fame. Oye Santana, winners of the 2018 National Tribute Music Awards, will take to the stage at Weymouth Pavilion tonight, performing all of the band's feel-good hits from Smooth and Black Magic Woman to Maria Maria and Oye Como Va. SATURDAY

THE 20th anniversary of the Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival takes place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 10am.The two day festival is more than just a celebration of cheese.With over 80 food producers, an array of craft exhibitors and a full entertainment programme including live music, children’s entertainment and cooking demonstrations, there really is something for the whole family. *HEAD down to the Weldmar Summer Fete from 11am to 4pm at Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester. Visitors will be kept busy with more than 40 stalls to browse, as well as a BBQ and licensed bar to enjoy. Live musical entertainment will also be on offer, along with displays of vintage vehicles and Goldwing bikes. Take part in a silent auction to be in with a chance of taking home some spectacular prizes. Entry to the fete, which is open until 4pm, is £2 for adults, with children going free.

*ROUND up your family and friends and join in with The Greatest Showman Singalong tomorrow at Weymouth Pavilion from 2pm. Produced by Singalonga Productions, a live host will teach audiences a unique set of dance moves and how to use the interactive prop bags, before the film begins and you can sing to your heart's desire. Fancy dress is strongly encouraged and audience participation is essential, with lyrics on screen leaving no excuse for not joining in. Tickets are £18 for adults and £14 for children, available from the pavilion website or box office.

*ENJOY Puccini's thrilling and passionate love story depicted by one of opera's true legends, as Opera Holloway perform La Boheme at Dorchester Corn Exchange tomorrow evening. Conducted by Lewis Gaston and directed by Fiona Williams, the story depicts the ever-changing fortunes of the lives of four flatmates reluctant to leave their student days behind them. Opera Holloway's contemporary production moves the action to a seaside town on the south coast of England, where the affair between Mimi and Rodolfo dramatically unfolds. Tickets for the performance, which begins at 7pm, are £18 or £16 for concessions, available from the Dorchester Arts website or by contacting the box office.

*FANS of Madness and The Specials are in for a treat, as Special Kinda Madness are performing at Weymouth Pavilion tomorrow, at 8pm. The concert will feature music by both legendary bands, credited with introducing the era of 2-Tone and ska to the UK. Expect to hear hits from Our House and My Girl to Ghost Town and Too Much Too Young. All tickets are £22, available from the pavilion website or by contacting the box office.

SUNDAY

*BE transported to decades gone by as the UK's number one rock & roll variety production returns with The Best of That'll be the Day. Featuring the most popular songs, impressions and comic sketches from more than 33 years of touring, the show guarantees a nostalgia extravaganza with music from the 1950s through to the 1980s. The concert takes place at the Weymouth Pavilion on Sunday from 7.30pm. Tickets are £27.50 for adults and £10.50 for children, available from the pavilion website or by contacting the box office.
