POLICE are investigating a 'suspicious' fire in which five cars were destroyed in a back garden.
The fire service was called to reports of a car on fire in a back garden of a house on Littlemoor Road at around 4am yesterday.
Two crews from Weymouth and a crew from Dorchester attended the scene and found that there were actually five cars alight.
The blaze also spread to a trailer and a section of garden fence before the firefighters managed to extinguish it.
Fire crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a main line to put out the blaze and called police to come to the scene.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and the incident is being treated as suspicious, although no arrests have been made so far.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
