We've had a pretty miserable August so far with wet weather and high winds leading to events being called off across Dorset. However, there's good news for residents and visitors alike as a warm and bright bank holiday is just around the corner, according to the Met Office.

Temperatures are set to reach a modest - but welcome - 24C on Saturday, 23C on Sunday and 23C on Bank Holiday Monday.

Met Office forecasters say Friday and Saturday will become mostly fine, dry and warmer. Overnight fog patches will be likely, with a chance of showers on Saturday, but temperatures will be 'above average' in the south during the weekend.

This will be welcome news for event organisers with a packed line-up of festivals and family-friendly fun planned for the bank holiday.

It follows weeks of unsettled weather which saw weather warnings of rain, wind and thunderstorms issued by the Met Office for large parts of the country.
