The owners of a former pub have been given permission for improvements both inside and outside the building.
The mainly thatched Farmers Arms on Main Street, Loders, dates back to the 17th Century.
Changes, approved by Dorset Council planning officers, include the removal of a corrugated iron roof to a modern extension to the building, a new first floor extension and changes to the interior as well as new windows for a sun room.
The work will also involve replacing gypsum plaster, which is said to have caused damp problems, with lime plaster as well as some re-pointing and adding oak flooring to a living room.
